Body awareness exercise
Stand up, close your eyes and feel your body touching the floor you are standing on.
Notice which parts of you move as you breathe. If you feel yourself swaying, open your eyes for a moment then close them again. Now, allow you attention to wander slowly through your entire body from the inside.
How much of your body can you sense in this way? Are there parts of your body you cannot contact? Do some parts feel lighter or heavier? Can you feel tension or discomfort anywhere? Do you sense a difference between left and right?
You may be surprised by what you discover. Some people find that parts of the body feel blank or cut off. Others find that instead of feeling a body part, they visualise it, using their inner eye to look at a picture of their bodies.
