Power Pop-Up Folders

Replacing Launcher and Now Menus

One of my favourite System 8 features is the way you can make little pop up folders at the bottom of your screen. I used to have "Launcher" for my daughter (now seven) and "Now Menus" for myself and I've discovered that both can be easily replaced with pop ups.

Create a folder called "Menus" and here is where you can create your pop ups. I have one called "Jessica" for my daughter (she know she can only run things in her folder), "Net", "Utils" and "bin" for my various applications (always use an alias so that you don't move an application away form its files) and one called "Tony" for my personal files. If you set a folder to "Button" view and then drag it to the bottom of the screen it turns into a pop up version of the Launcher, except with added power. These buttons also work as targets for drag and drop, you can even have folder aliases, documents, templates and anything else in there.
