The Great Macintosh Easter Egg Hunt
David Pogue
I loved this book. Someone gave it to me as a gift and I spent hours displaying various Easter Eggs in my operating system and applications.
What's an Easter Egg. Well... programmers sometimes get bored and they like to get some credit so they put hidden little surprises inside the software. It might just be a list of their names that pops up in the "About Box" all the way through to games you can find with the secret keystrokes. Also common are photographs, including one inside quite a lot of Macs that shows the people that designed that Macintosh model. All a great deal of fun.
For less than $10 it makes a great gift for a Mac addict. Yes, I know that you can find the same information (and more) on the net for free but who actually does? When someone gives you the book you actually play with your computer and find them. I still giggle thinking of some of the silly things embedded in serious applications. Sorry, no hints; buy the book.
