QuicKeys
I've been a QuicKeys fan for many years. While there remain applications that steadfastly refuse to support
AppleScript and tasks too tiny for you to bother writing a script QK has a place on the Mac. It's another (comparitively)
expensive tool that you just can't live without once you've used it for a while.
My most frequent use is to create keyboard shortcuts for menu items in applications that don't support menu editing. I
have also used it to create a one key login for my web server. One key press runs NCSCA Telnet, chooses the right shortcut
and enters my login name and password. With a little work it even waits for the right prompts from the server.
QK is a great tool for reinventing and improving the interface of almost any application. I found Web Whacker almost intolerable
to use until I created a range of QK actions that made it a much easier software package to use. (I'm still looking for a
really good site downloader-until then I struggle on with Web Whacker and QK.)
