Curves in typefaces
Each part of a letter has a special name. Some parts have more than one name, depending on which book
you read, and which century the book discusses.
Arc: The curve of the stem of a letter such as in the lowercase n.
Finial: The curve that finishes a main stroke in some italic faces replacing the serif of the roman.
Link: The element which joins the two circular portions of a g.
Spine: The thick curve of an s.
